Head Chef 

Our passionate team are seeking an inspiring Head Chef to lead their kitchen.

Overlooking Brixham harbour and operating on two floors our restaurant offers fresh, locally sourced food from the South West accompanied by great award winning beer and fine wines. Choose between the downstairs bar menu with counter service or go upstairs for fantastic and friendly table service. The Old Market House also offers guests an extensive outdoor seating area providing breath-taking views across the Brixham harbour.

Working closely with the General Manager, and leading your hard-working and committed team, you will:

  • Juggle all elements of operational and commercial management for the kitchen, controlling stock and food margin meticulously.
  • Enjoy being a hands-on member of our busy operation, working shoulder-to-shoulder with your team to create fabulous food.
  • Thrive on being a role model to your team who turn to you for support and development, inspiring them to strive for the best in everything they do.

About You

You have a passion for working with quality fresh, local food. Inspiring a tight-knit, hardworking kitchen team who consistently deliver their absolute best is what gets you up in the morning. It’s also what brings guests to our tables!

You are understandably proud of what you’ve achieved in your career as a Chef, having successfully led a high-volume kitchen in a food-lead venue. You’re a natural when it comes to communicating, thrive under pressure, and get great satisfaction from motivating your team. Your experience will have seen you:

  • Develop a passion and enthusiasm for creating fantastic locally-sourced, seasonal food that ‘wows’ your guests.
  • Build and lead an exceptional team of people.
  • Become experienced in all areas of kitchen management, including success in stock and margin management.
  • Ideally gain NVQ level 2 and a Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Build an impressive level of knowledge and skill over two years of managing a kitchen.
