A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PORTER AT  OUR HOTEL

  • Greet all guests with a warm, professional welcome upon arrival. 
  • Assist with luggage handling during check-in and check-out. 
  • Review daily arrival and departure lists to prepare for guest needs. 
  • Offer local knowledge, recommendations, and directions to enhance the guest experience. 
  • Coordinate with reception and housekeeping teams to ensure a smooth and seamless operation. 
  • Support the front desk during busy periods, helping with guest queries and requests. 
  • Set up rooms for early arrivals and respond to any special guest requirements. 
  • Assist with booking taxis, storing luggage, and other concierge-style duties. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised lobby and front entrance area. 
  • Anticipate guest needs and go above and beyond to exceed expectations.


    • WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • A warm, friendly, and approachable personality with a genuine passion for hospitality. 
  • A strong guest-first mindset – you take pride in delivering exceptional service. 
  • Excellent communication skills and a confident, professional manner. 
  • A proactive attitude – you're hands-on, helpful, and always ready to assist. 
  • Good local knowledge of Edinburgh (or a willingness to learn quickly). 
  • The ability to stay calm and composed in a fast-paced environment. 
  • A team player who’s reliable, punctual, and takes pride in their appearance. 
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. 
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or hospitality role is preferred but not essential.
