A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PORTER AT OLD TOWN CHAMBERS

What you'll be doing...

• Be one of the first friendly faces our guests meet, creating a warm and welcoming arrival experience from the moment they step through our doors.
• Welcome guests and assist with luggage, helping them settle into their apartment and ensuring they feel at home from the start of their stay.
• Provide helpful and knowledgeable recommendations on Edinburgh, from local restaurants and attractions to transport and things to see and do.
• Be a proud ambassador for Old Town Chambers, our brand and the city of Edinburgh, sharing your local knowledge and passion with our guests.
• Assist guests with requests throughout their stay, responding promptly and finding practical solutions to help make their experience as enjoyable as possible.
• Support guests with departures, including luggage assistance and ensuring they leave with a positive final impression of Old Town Chambers.
• Work closely with the Front Office, Housekeeping and Maintenance teams to ensure guest requests are communicated and followed up efficiently.
• Keep guest areas, entrances and shared spaces clean, tidy and welcoming, taking pride in the presentation of the property.
• Assist with deliveries, luggage storage and other day-to-day porter duties, ensuring everything is handled safely and efficiently.
• Be alert to what is happening around the property, reporting any maintenance, security or guest concerns promptly to the appropriate team.
• Go the extra mile for our guests, anticipating their needs and adding thoughtful touches that make their stay memorable.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• A warm and approachable personality who genuinely enjoys helping people and creating great guest experiences.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to interact with guests from all over the world.
• A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to remain calm and helpful when things get busy.
• Good local knowledge of Edinburgh, or a genuine enthusiasm for learning about the city and sharing recommendations with our guests.
• A team player who is happy to support colleagues and get involved wherever needed.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards throughout the property.
• A proactive approach, with the ability to spot what needs doing rather than waiting to be asked.
• Flexibility and adaptability, understanding that every day is different and guest needs can change quickly.
• Someone who takes pride in representing Old Town Chambers and making every guest feel genuinely welcomed.
