Events & Experience Manager – Opium Chinatown, London
Location: Chinatown, London
Job Type: Full-time, Tuesday–Saturday, with some evenings required
Salary: £38,000 package (base salary + service charge), well above the London market rate for this role
Start Date: ASAP – we're looking to fill this role immediately
Hidden Bar. Big Energy. Even Bigger Guest List.
Opium is London's award-winning, multi-room cocktail bar tucked away in the heart of Chinatown – the kind of place people whisper about before they've even found the door. Part of The Breakfast Group, we're looking for someone loud in the best way: big energy, sharp instincts and a genuine love of connecting with people, to drive our private events and sales pipeline and turn every enquiry into a party worth talking about.
If you're the person who already knows the concierge at three hotels, can close a booking off the back of one phone call, and gets a table anywhere, this is your room.
The Role
As our Sales and Events Manager, you'll own the commercial engine behind our events and guest experience – growing the private events pipeline, converting enquiries into bookings, and building the relationships that keep Opium impossible to forget. You'll shape the guest journey from first enquiry to last cocktail, hit sales targets, and be the face that welcomes clients through the door and hands them off seamlessly to the floor team.
You'll have your own base in one of Chinatown's most premium cocktail venues, working shoulder to shoulder with our ops team – not tucked away in a back office. You'll bring creative and commercial license to build the partnerships, packages and moments that keep guests coming back.
What You'll Do
Own the sales pipeline end to end – handle enquiries, convert leads, negotiate packages, and hit revenue targets for private and semi-private events. Run private event bookings, and personally welcome clients on the night, making sure every detail is set before service begins. Coordinate venue events, seasonal activations and collaborations from idea to execution. Build a real network of hotels, concierges, corporate clients and local businesses – the people who send us their best bookings. Track guest feedback and reviews, turning them into sharper packages, pitches and activations. Partner with our external marketing agency to support campaigns and spot the content moments worth capturing. Keep every guest-facing corner of the venue looking as good as the cocktails taste.
You
Loud, in the best way – big energy, genuine warmth, and a talent for turning enquiries into confirmed bookings. A proven connector and closer, comfortable building relationships and driving revenue across hospitality, corporate and local business networks. Hospitality, events or sales background; bonus points for premium bars, restaurants or immersive venues. Sharp organisational and commercial instincts – you can run five deals at once without dropping any of them. Tech-savvy and friendly, equally comfortable on a booking system, a spreadsheet or the floor. Genuinely excited by London's bar scene – you already have opinions about it. Available Tuesday to Saturday, with some evenings – that's when the magic (and the events) happen.
Nice to have: marketing experience, social media savvy, and a knack for spotting a content moment before it disappears.
What's In It For You
£38,000 package, top of market for this role in London. A seat at the table in one of London's most talked-about hospitality brands, backed by The Breakfast Group. Real ownership over sales targets, events and guest experience. Staff discounts, team incentives, and a clear path to grow within a scaling hospitality group.
