Night Porter – Supervisor (Fixed-Term Contract)

Location: Orsett Hall Hotel, Restaurant & Spa
Department: Front of House
Reporting to: Front of House Manager / General Manager

Orsett Hall is a four-star hotel, restaurant, spa, and events venue set within beautiful countryside surroundings. We are known for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

We are currently seeking a Night Porter - Supervisor to join our Front of House team and take responsibility for the smooth running of the hotel overnight.

The Role

This is a key overnight position where you will combine supervisory responsibilities with hands-on operational duties. You will ensure the safety, security, and comfort of our guests while maintaining high standards across all areas of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the smooth operation of the hotel during night shifts
  • Supervising night porters and support Front of House operations
  • Carrying out guest check-ins and check-outs, including late arrivals and early departures
  • Delivering excellent customer service and handle guest queries or issues promptly
  • Conducting regular security checks, fire walks, and ensure full health & safety compliance
  • Ensuring the hotel is secure, including locking doors and checking lighting and fire exits
  • Providing room service and bar service during the night
  • Preparing and set up function rooms, conferences, weddings, and events to required standards
  • Assisting with breakfast preparation when required
  • Maintaining cleanliness in public areas, including lounges
  • Ensuring all equipment is safely stored and switched off when not in use
  • Completing detailed night reports, logging incidents, maintenance issues, and guest feedback
  • Providing clear handover to morning teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Have previous experience in hospitality, ideally within a hotel environment
  • Have supervisory experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
  • Have excellent customer service skills with a professional and friendly approach
  • Have the ability to work independently and take ownership of the night operation
  • Have good communication and organisational skills
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours, including nights and weekends
  • Have high standards of personal presentation

  • Working 5 out of 7 days per week including weekends and bank holidays
  • 40 hours per week
  • Working Hours: 2230hrs-0700hrs daily
  • Hourly Rate: £15 per hour
