Job Title: HR Generalist 

Location: Support Center 

Department: Human Resources 

Reports to: Head of People 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports core human resources functions across the employee lifecycle for Empire Jointstar’s/Pret A Manger's support center. This role maintains HRIS data, assists with employee relations, partners on training and engagement initiatives, and ensures compliance with company policies and labor laws, and general department support.

Core Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations

    • Provide guidance to managers on basic disciplinary and performance matters

    • Conduct preliminary inquiries into employee concerns and escalate complex cases

    • Document corrective actions and maintain confidential records

  • HRIS Management & Reporting

    • Partner with Benefits & Payroll manager to maintain ADP data accuracy and Harri by processing transfers, salary adjustments, and terminations

    • Run weekly/monthly HR reports (new hires, terminations, and payroll support) and share insights with stakeholders

    • Train managers on system usage, attendance tracking and corrective action processes

  • Training & Development

    • Partner with Head of People to deliver HR training for new General Managers and Assistant GMs every six weeks

    • Update training materials, track completion rates, and gather feedback for continuous improvement

  • Compliance & Policy Rollout

    • Process and respond to unemployment claims, manage Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program.

    • Support annual Open Enrollment by visiting shops to build benefits awareness, anti-harassment training, and the rollout of new HR programs or policies

    • Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Local labor regulations

  • Culture & Engagement Projects

    • Assist with planning and executing cultural events and team celebrations

    • Participate in special HR initiatives, surveys, and projects to drive employee engagement

Qualifications and Requirements
  • 1–2 years of HR experience or internship in HR, business administration, or a related field

  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Office Suite, Harri or similar scheduling/workforce management system.

  • Knowledge of US labor laws and HR best practices

  • Spanish-speaking proficiency is a plus
