Location: Meriden, CT

Reports to: Senior Manager of Bagel Production

Role type: Full-Time

Hours: 2pm-10pm Monday-Friday

The Role

The Second Shift Lead (Production) role is responsible for supervising 8-10 production employees while actively working alongside the team to ensure daily production goals are met.

We are seeking a genuinely kind, professional, and team-oriented individual who brings outstanding communication skills, integrity, and character to every interaction. While technical aptitude is essential, success in this role also depends on the ability to build trust with customers and colleagues through clear communication, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Strong product and equipment troubleshooting skills are a critical component of this position, requiring both analytical thinking and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer support.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of 8-10 production employees during the second shift.
  • Maintain an active presence on the production floor throughout the shift.
  • Address employee questions, production issues, and workflow challenges in a timely manner.
  • Ensure production schedules and quality standards are met.
  • Assist with daily production activities as needed, including pulling ingredients, staging materials, and supporting production lines.
  • Monitor the preparation of products to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Manage the packaging of goods so they meet all quality and output standards. This includes accurate reporting of all activities
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding shift performance, staffing needs, and operational concerns.
  • Train new employees and reinforce company procedures and expectations.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.

Required Education, Experience, and KSAs:

  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or managing employees in a manufacturing, food production, warehouse, or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and effectively manage daily operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and able to lead by example.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work alongside the team and assist with production tasks when needed.
  • Food manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on production work alongside the team as needed.
