Paia Inn is seeking a motivated, service-driven Restaurant Manager to join the team at Vana, our signature outlet showcasing locally-grown ingredients and Japanese-inspired dishes.
Just steps away from a three-mile stretch of white sandy beach, Paia Inn offers 15 rooms, two inspired settings for meals or a cocktail, and multiple creative venue options. Located in the heart of Paia, this home away from home boasts modern amenities with historic Hawaiian character, allowing guests to live like a local.
As the Vana Restaurant Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's operations, including staff management, customer service and financial performance. This role requires exceptional leadership, vision and genuine care for our colleagues.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train and manage restaurant staff to provide outstanding service
- Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure a motivated and cohesive team
Guest Satisfaction- Ensure that guests have a memorable and delightful dining experience by consistently maintaining high service standards
- Address guest feedback and resolve any issues promptly and professionally
Menu Development - Collaborate with the Chef to create and update menus that reflect the hotel's commitment to excellence in cuisine
- Monitor food quality and presentation to meet or exceed guest expectations
Operations Management- Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, including scheduling, inventory management and maintenance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Financial Management- Manage the restaurant's budget, control costs and maximize revenue through effective pricing and upselling strategies
- Monitor financial performance and implement improvements as needed
Marketing & Promotion- Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones
- Organize special events, promotions and collaborations to enhance the restaurant's visibility and reputation
Wine & Beverage Program- Oversee the selection, pricing and inventory management of wines and beverages to complement the restaurant's cuisine
Vendor Relations- Maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms to ensure high-quality ingredients and cost-effective procurement
Reporting- Generate regular reports on restaurant performance, including financial metrics, guest feedback and staff evaluations; present findings to senior management
Qualifications- Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager in a luxury dining environment
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
- Excellent knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu development, wine and beverage programs and cost control
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Proficient in restaurant management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred
- Certification in Food Handling and Alcohol Service is a plus
