Behind a neo-classical façade of towering columns lies a new Belgravia landmark: Pantechnicon, opened in autumn 2020. In a global first, Pantechnicon brings together Japanese and Nordic cultures and invite guests to explore and celebrate the food, craftsmanship and aesthetics that unite both regions in one compelling space. Pantechnicon is located on the pedestrianised Motcomb Street in Belgravia, just five minutes from Knightsbridge, Sloane Square and Hyde Park. Designed in partnership with architect Farrells, Pantechnicon’s grand exterior gives way to a stripped back warehouse interior, which reimagines the building’s original heritage features into nine different, but connected, spaces.

We are looking for an experienced, committed and proactive Bar Manager to join our new and exciting Bar in the Japanese Sachi Restaurant. The Bar Manager will ensure the bar operates smoothly, with sufficient stock and staff at all times. The ideal candidate in this position must maintain a courteous demeanour with customers while her/his enthusiasm will be naturally transferred across their guests and teams. You should be a role model so that the team can look to be inspired and supported by you.  The Bar Manager will be passionate about Food and Beverage, have great organisational skills and be able to work in a fast pace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the team is keeping the bar to the highest possible standards, being effectively organized at all times.
  • Ensure bar space follows all licensing requirements with health and safety guidelines
  • Prepare and adjust rotas for all bar staff to adequately cover all shifts in the event of employee absence.
  • Work alongside the bar team to mix drinks, pour and serve wine, beer, and other beverages as and when required.
  • Assist with recruitment of staff, train, and supervise new starters in order to ensure they are working to the highest potential possible.
  • Handle paperwork and other administrative duties as and when required.
  • Ensure stock levels are always maintained and order supplies as and when necessary
  • Address customer inquiries and complaints to the highest standard possible ensuring any issue is rectified to the best of your ability.
  • Assisting your line manager in ensuring the financial performance and all other KPIs of the bar are at a good standard.
  • Oversee the performance management of the bar team to achieve the desired results in supporting the business.
  • Ensure all shifts are organized and supervised to the highest standard possible.
  • Conduct team briefings with the team before the start of each shift.
  • Ensure the monitoring and maintenance of high-quality Food and Beverage and exceptional standards of customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and controls. This will include stock control to ensure wastage levels are within guidelines.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • A strong understanding of Japanese culture and beverages is an advantage
  • A strong understanding of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Knowledge of regulations related to alcohol service
  • Possessing the skills to communicate at all levels   
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Outstanding problem solving and organizational skill
  • Hardworking, self-motivated and dedicated about the position
  • A good understanding of budgeting, forecasting and labour control
  • Good working knowledge of general computer/hospitality systems
  • Attention to detail
