Company About Us:

Founded by former Michelin-starred chef Paul Rhodes in 2003, Paul Rhodes Bakery has built a strong reputation as the go-to supplier of quality handcrafted sourdoughs, cakes and pastries in the capital. Paul’s ambition when he started the bakery was simple: to provide London’s busy chefs with the best handcrafted bread, made from the finest ingredients possible and traditional techniques.

Today, as the bakery heads towards twenty-five years in business, the goal remains the same and this ambition underpins everything we do. We have both a wholesale business supplying some of London’s top restaurants, hotels, cafés, and entertainment venues, as well as our local retail bakery shop which is based a ten-minute walk up the road, in Greenwich Market.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team and contribute to our success. At Paul Rhodes Bakery, we believe in nurturing talent. By joining our company, you’ll have the chance to work with experienced professionals, learn valuable skills, and be part of a friendly, supportive environment.

About the role:

Paul Rhodes Bakery is seeking a committed, detail oriented, and professional individual with a dedicated focus on employee relations to join our team as our Human Resources Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage HR policies and processes to ensure business compliance on all HR matters
  • Manage and oversee all ER matters, providing guidance on legal requirements, and ensuring compliance with required management of timelines and administration.
  • Oversee and manage the recruitment process, from job posting, guidance to management on selection and interview process, to onboarding and induction of new employees.
  • Provide leadership and training for departmental managers on HR best practices.
  • Oversee the timesheet submissions to our payroll team and ensure adherence to the pay schedule.
  • Ensure the smooth running and training of our recruitment and HR platforms.
  • Work closely with our company directors and line managers, developing effective relationships.
  • Engage with employees at all levels across our business.
  • Work effectively alongside 3rd party partners supporting the HR function.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Most importantly, we are looking for a HR Manager who loves people – someone who is excited to join a busy and growing business, who is keen to work alongside the leadership team to look after our people as best we can over the coming years.
  • A dedicated team member with 4+ years of experience in a busy and dynamic HR environment.
  • Those with CIPD Level 5 or above or with equivalent HR degree will be considered.
  • Able to guide the company through all ER matters timely and ensure a satisfactory outcome for all parties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work across all company levels, building trust, and promoting collaboration.
  • Capacity to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and dynamic environment, with experience working as a single person department.
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated system skills (Fourth Hospitality experience preferred but not essential) and strong administrative skills, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Expertise in data analysis and presentation, with the ability to see beyond numbers to inform, influence, support, and execute decisions.

Hours of Work:

  • 40 hours per week (including breaks).
  • Part-time candidates will also be considered, from 30 hours per week.
  • Working 5 days a week between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. As we are a 24-hour operation, working outside of these hours will be needed on occasion.
  • Due to the nature of the role, and that it is a single HR role within the business, on-site presence is required. Occasional hybrid options may be possible but this role will be predominantly based on-site at our bakery in Greenwich.

Application Process: If this sounds like it would be of interest to you, we would love to hear from you. To be considered, please submit a COVER LETTER along with your CV. In your cover letter, explain why this role interests you and why you believe you would be a good fit for our team.

Benefits:
  • Free & Discounted Bakery Products: Take home the freshest bread, pastries, and more every day.
  • Shop Discount: Enjoy exclusive employee discounts on all products at our Greenwich shop.
  • Free Birthday cake of your choice.
  • Company Events: Join your colleagues for fun summer / winter social events.
  • Referral Bonus: Earn a £500 bonus for bringing new talent into our growing team.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme: Convenient commuting options for you.
  • Additional holiday allowance to reward length of service.
  • Paid breaks.
