Description

Company About Us:

Founded by former Michelin-starred chef Paul Rhodes in 2003, Paul Rhodes Bakery has built a strong reputation as the go-to supplier of quality handcrafted sourdoughs, cakes and pastries in the capital. Paul’s ambition when he started the bakery was simple: to provide London’s busy chefs with the best handcrafted bread, made from the finest ingredients possible and traditional techniques.

Today, as the bakery heads towards twenty-five years in business, the goal remains the same and this ambition underpins everything we do. We have both a wholesale business supplying some of London’s top restaurants, hotels, cafés, and entertainment venues, as well as our local retail bakery shop which is based a ten-minute walk up the road, in Greenwich Market.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team and contribute to our success. At Paul Rhodes Bakery, we believe in nurturing talent. By joining our company, you’ll have the chance to work with experienced professionals, learn valuable skills, and be part of a friendly, supportive environment.

Job Overview:
We are hiring multiple Pastry Assistants on a 2-month contract to help create one of the season’s favorites—mince pies! You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our festive bakes are produced to the highest standard and on time, while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create festive mince pies ahead of the Christmas rush.
  • Ensure all pies meet our set quality standards and are produced according to daily orders.
  • Handle large production volumes efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and well-maintained.

Personal Attributes & Skills:

  • No baking experience needed, would be appreciated if you have one but not compulsory.
  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or food production environment.
  • Comfortable operating electric bread ovens.
  • Knowledge of food safety, health, and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to multitask, plan, and manage high-volume production.

Contract Details:

  • Contract length: 2 months.
  • Shifts: 8/9 AM – 5/6 PM, 5 days per week - Fridays and Saturdays off.
  • Pay: £12.21 per hour.

Benefits:

  • Join our fun holiday-themed company events.
  • Access to a cycle-to-work scheme and company pension.
  • Free or discounted food to enjoy, because every baker deserves a treat!
  • £500 referral bonus for successful new hire referrals.

This temporary role is perfect for those looking to add a little festive cheer to their career. If you’re passionate about baking and want to help us deliver delicious holiday treats, send us your CV today! We can’t wait to hear from you!
