Join The Petersham Nurseries Team!

Annual salary:- £55,000-65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

This role is operationally led, and the successful candidate will be someone that thrives being hands on and supporting the wider management teams within the business.

The Head of People will report into our Director of Operations and will support leading the wider People team which includes Recruitment, L&D and our existing HR advisors.

Responsibilities: 

  • First point of contact for any employee relations issues, full support, advice and guidance on all employee relations matters including general enquiries; law; procedures; disciplinary & grievances or absence issues
  • Account management of outsourced, employment law advisory team 
  • Champion effective, proactive people management and help foster a culture of support and togetherness.
  • Manage and support on recruitment campaign
  • Oversee and drive our ‘Learn – Grow – Sustain’ appraisal process, ensuring managers have the skills to have meaningful conversations
  • Support the management teams to create talent maps, and succession plans.
  • Drive employee engagement across the business through innovative schemes.
  • Coach managers to help develop their people management skills as required. 
  • Undertake projects which will support the company’s aims and strategies and/or improve the effectiveness of People Development. 

Ideal candidate:

  • This person with come from the hospitality industry, ideally restaurants.
  • A strong generalist HR role.
  • Has typically worked in fast paced muti site portfolio.
  • A self-starter who has a hunger and energy to demonstrate the value HR brings to a business.
  • Someone who can work at all levels and willing to roll their sleeves up to get the job done.
  • Collaborative in nature and able to work with a wide range of people and build strong trusted relationships.

Requirements:

  • Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a multisite generalist HR leadership role, with previous exposure of managing an array of complex employee relations issues, leading from the front with our values and culture
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified – essential
  • A comprehensive understanding of UK employment law
  • A proven track record of coaching and role-modelling – integrity is key
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously without close supervision, possessing great interpersonal working skills.
  • Willingness to learn and travel throughout London to visit teams based within our restaurants, garden centre and e-commerce locations.
