The Sous Chef plays a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, and service standards. You will help lead and develop the kitchen team, maintain high food safety standards, and contribute to delivering an outstanding guest experience that reflects the Pasta Evangelists brand within Harrods.

What you'll do at Pasta Evangelists
  • Support the Head Chef in the management and operation of the kitchen.
  • Lead kitchen service in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Prepare, cook, and present fresh pasta dishes and menu items to the highest standards.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation consistency.
  • Train, coach, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen team members.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Manage stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise food waste.
  • Support menu development and seasonal specials where required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Work collaboratively with front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Assist in achieving kitchen KPIs, labour targets, and food cost objectives.

Who you are
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or experienced Junior Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Passionate about Italian cuisine, fresh ingredients, and exceptional food quality.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Calm and professional under pressure in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and health & safety requirements.
  • Hands-on approach with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible and willing to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Who we are:

Pasta Evangelists was born seven years ago out of a desire to become the authority in fresh pasta. We’re on a mission to reimagine and elevate pasta as a category, which is worth a staggering £3.8bn yet has seen little innovation for decades.

Since launching our original fresh pasta recipe kit service in 2016, we have built a cult following of British pasta lovers – our Evangelists – who are passionate about discovering the breadth and variety of pasta, as well as the irresistible stories behind it.

Most recently, we’ve been busy disrupting Britain’s pizza-centric Italian takeaway market with a brand new fresh pasta takeaway concept, available on pastaevangelists.com as well as major delivery players like Deliveroo, UberEats and JustEat. With more than 40 kitchens across the UK, we’re expanding coverage to new cities on an almost weekly basis (including our first openings in Scotland and Wales!). We've also opened the UK's biggest pastificio (which, in Italian, means pasta factory, but 'pastificio' better reflects the type of fresh, artisanal pasta we produce) in Acton, West London, allowing us to make ever more exciting and ambitious pasta and sauces for our customers.
