Receptionist/ Host – Join the Team at Pillar Hall

 

Join the team at Pillar Hall, an exceptional restaurant & events venue located within the iconic Olympia in West London.

We are looking for an experienced, confident and personable Receptionist to join our Front of House team. Start date: September 2026.

Located within the stunning Grade II listed Pillar Hall, our restaurant Idalia celebrates exceptional British produce, delivered with outstanding service and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will have a warm and professional approach, excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for hospitality. As one of the first points of contact for our guests, you will play an important role in creating an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, professional and friendly welcome to all guests.
  • Greet and seat guests at their tables, ensuring a smooth and welcoming arrival experience.
  • Manage reservations, table allocations, waiting lists and guest flow throughout service.
  • Use OpenTable to manage bookings, guest profiles and table availability.
  • Coordinate closely with the restaurant floor team and management to ensure tables are ready and guests are seated efficiently.
  • Remain present and visible on the restaurant floor, assisting with the guest journey throughout service.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to reservations and guest enquiries professionally.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the restaurant, menus, events and services.
  • Assist with special requests and ensure relevant guest information is communicated to the appropriate team members.
  • Handle guest enquiries and feedback professionally and effectively.
  • Maintain a polished, organised and welcoming reception/host area.
  • Support the wider Front of House team on the floor during busy service periods.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of hospitality and guest service.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Restaurant Host, Receptionist or similar Front of House position within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Comfortable working on the restaurant floor and interacting with guests throughout service.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional telephone manner.
  • Warm, confident and outgoing personality.
  • Polished appearance and excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach.
  • Strong organisational, multitasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a Front of House team.
  • A genuine guest-focused approach and passion for delivering exceptional hospitality.
  • Experience with OpenTable is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The Role

  • £16.50 per hour.
  • 40-hour contract.
  • Monday to Sunday operation.
