Position Summary

The Local Store Marketing Coordinator is responsible for driving comparable sales growth and profitable transactions through the planning, execution, and evaluation of local store marketing initiatives across PJ North Carolina, LLC (Serazen Papa John’s) restaurants.

This role focuses on community engagement, event activation, business partnerships, and fundraising initiatives that increase brand awareness, customer traffic, and repeat business. The position combines field-based relationship building with hands-on marketing material creation (primarily in Canva) to support restaurants throughout the North Carolina market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Local Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate local store marketing programs that drive customer traffic, trial, and frequency at both the store and market levels.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to develop store-level marketing action plans with defined goals, tactics, and timelines.
  • Maintain and distribute a rolling 4-week local marketing and event calendar, updating weekly and sharing with Operations leadership.
  • Track, analyze, and report results from campaigns and events including sales lift, transaction counts, redemption rates, customer feedback, and ROI.

Community Engagement & Events

  • Develop and manage community involvement initiatives including school partnerships, youth sports sponsorships, church programs, nonprofit collaborations, and civic/chamber of commerce engagement.
  • Plan and execute local events such as school nights, spirit nights, team nights, community festivals, grand openings, re-openings, and sampling events.
  • Manage event logistics including pre-event planning, on-site activation, and post-event follow-up.

Business Development

  • Build and maintain business-to-business relationships with local employers, hotels, apartment communities, and organizations to drive catering orders, group orders, and corporate meal programs.
  • Identify new sales opportunities through community networking groups, chambers of commerce, and local associations.

Fundraising Programs

  • Develop and coordinate fundraising initiatives for schools, sports teams, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Create promotional materials, coordinate event setup, and track fundraising results and participation.

Marketing Materials & Creative Support

  • Design and produce local marketing materials using Canva, including flyers, box toppers, social graphics, fundraising packets, and event signage while ensuring compliance with Papa John’s brand standards.

Training & Store Support

  • Serve as a resource for store leadership on local marketing techniques and sales-building initiatives.
  • Support General Managers through in-store demonstrations, ride-alongs, and small group training sessions.

Reporting & Administration

  • Provide timely completion of administrative tasks including schedules, expense reports, event recaps, ROI summaries, and performance updates.
  • Maintain a repository of local marketing best practices and successful campaign examples to share across the organization.

Field Engagement

  • Spend approximately 70–80% of work time in the field, including restaurant visits, community outreach, and event support, with the remaining time dedicated to planning, design work, and reporting.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated sales, outreach, or cold-calling experience for business partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Experience in local store marketing, grassroots marketing, community engagement, or event marketing preferred.
  • Proficiency with Canva for creating marketing materials; experience with additional design or social media tools is a plus.
  • Basic analytical ability to track campaign results and calculate ROI.
  • Comfortable working in and around restaurant environments with an understanding of peak business periods and operational flow.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the assigned market.

  • Frequently required to use hands to handle materials and operate a computer.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds (event supplies, signage, and marketing materials).
