Come and join the team at The Plough Inn!
We're on the lookout for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Front of House Supervisor to join our team at The Plough Inn, right in the heart of Oxford.
We're a busy, bustling pub on Cornmarket Street, welcoming everyone from our lovely regulars and Oxford locals to students, tourists and businesses. Whether it's a quiet midweek lunch, a packed Saturday afternoon or a private party upstairs, there's always something happening, and no two shifts are ever quite the same!
We're a close-knit team who work hard, have a laugh and take pride in what we do. We love good food, great drinks and, most importantly, making sure everyone who walks through our doors feels right at home.
Now we're looking for someone who shares that passion and is ready to take on a little more responsibility.
This isn't just about pulling pints and running food (although you'll definitely be doing both!). You'll be an important part of our management team, helping to run the pub day to day, looking after our people and making sure everything runs as it should.
If you're already a Front of House Supervisor, Bar Supervisor or Restaurant Supervisor, or you're an experienced hospitality professional looking to take your first proper step into management, we'd love to meet you.
What will you actually be doing?
A bit of everything, really! You'll be working closely with our management team, helping to keep the pub running smoothly and making sure both our guests and team are well looked after.

The behind-the-scenes bits
There's a lot more to running a pub than what happens on the floor, and you'll be getting involved in that side of things too.
You'll be helping with stock management, bookings, team administration, daily reporting and all those other little jobs that keep everything ticking along.
We use a variety of systems to help us do this, including:
Haven't used all of these before? Don't panic! We'll teach you what you need to know. As long as you're reasonably comfortable with computers, organised and willing to learn, you'll be absolutely fine.
Who are we looking for?
We're not looking for someone who knows absolutely everything. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, a bit of common sense and a genuine love for hospitality.
You'll probably be a great fit if you:
Experience with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, bookings or other management duties would be brilliant, but it's not a dealbreaker if you haven't done everything before.
What matters most to us is finding someone we can trust, who takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about the people around them.
What We Offer Our Supervisors
We know that a great pub is only as good as the people who work in it, so we want to make sure our team feels valued, supported and rewarded for all their hard work.
As part of the Young's family, you'll enjoy some fantastic benefits, including:
And, of course, you'll be joining a friendly, hardworking team in one of Oxford's busiest city-centre pubs, with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, take on more responsibility and progress your career.
Whether you're looking to become an Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager or eventually run your own pub, we'll help you work towards getting there.
A little bit about us
The Plough Inn has been part of Oxford's history for centuries, with our beautiful Grade II listed building dating back to 1656.
We're right in the middle of the city, on Cornmarket Street, and pride ourselves on being a proper welcoming pub.
We serve freshly prepared food, a great selection of beers, wines and spirits, and host everything from casual lunches to corporate events and private celebrations.
We're a busy place, and the days can sometimes be pretty hectic, but that's part of what makes it fun.
We work hard, look after one another and believe that great hospitality starts with a happy, supported team.
Sound like your kind of place?
If you're passionate about hospitality, enjoy working with people and fancy a job where you can take on more responsibility, learn new skills and have a laugh along the way, we'd love to hear from you.
You might already be an experienced supervisor, or perhaps you're a brilliant bartender or front of house team member who's ready for the next challenge.
Either way, if you've got the right attitude and you're willing to get stuck in, we want to hear from you!
Apply today and tell us a little about yourself, your experience and why you'd be a great fit for The Plough Inn.
Hopefully, we'll see you for a chat soon!
