Job description

As a Greeter at Porta Via, you are a personal representation of the service and overall hospitality of the staff of the restaurant. While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for take-out orders, it is the job of the hostess to ensure the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their orders or wait times.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• As guests arrive, greet them in a friendly and welcoming manner with a smile
• Escort guests to their tables and present each guest with menu after they are seated comfortably
• If restaurant is busy, offer to take initial drink orders
• Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables
• Estimate and communicate wait times for guests
• Monitor the guest waiting list ensuring needs of the guests are met while waiting.
• Answer telephone, booking reservations and move tables together to accommodate large parties.
• Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
• Promptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessary
• Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed
• Learn food and beverage menu as well as daily specials
• Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment
• Rotate seating between different stations to ensure even workloads for waitstaff

REQUIRED
• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Flexible schedule, particularly for weekend/evening shifts
• 1+ years customer service experience, preferably in the hospitality industry
• Ability to work 6+ hours on your feet at a time
• Advanced time management experience
• Friendly, open disposition
• Team player who looks for ways to help whenever needed
