Are you confident working with pool plant systems, hot tubs and water treatment equipment?

Do you take pride in keeping essential guest facilities running safely, smoothly and to the highest standard?

What do we want?

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Operative (Pools & Hot Tubs) to join our Property Team across Bedruthan Hotel and Spa and Scarlet Hotel.

This is a specialist, hands-on role focused on maintaining our spa pools, hot tubs, water systems and associated plant equipment. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all water-based facilities are safe, fully operational, compliant and consistently maintained to the highest standards for our guests.

Working within a unique hospitality environment, you’ll combine technical expertise with a practical, problem-solving mindset to support both planned maintenance and reactive repairs, helping to minimise downtime and maintain exceptional guest experiences.

As our hotels operate seven days a week, this role includes a varied rota with regular weekend working as part of the standard schedule. Weekend shifts offer the opportunity to work within the vibrant atmosphere of our busiest guest periods, playing a key role in delivering exceptional spa and leisure experiences when they matter most.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Monitor, maintain and repair pool plant systems, hot tubs and water treatment equipment
• Carry out daily checks of chemical balance, water quality and plant room performance
• Respond promptly to faults, leaks or system failures to minimise guest disruption
• Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, filters, dosing systems and associated equipment
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and water hygiene regulations (including PWTAG standards)
• Record and log water testing, maintenance work and system checks accurately
• Support general plumbing and mechanical maintenance where required
• Conduct routine inspections of spa and pool areas to identify potential issues early
• Work collaboratively with the Property Team and Spa Teams to ensure smooth operations
• Support refurbishment and improvement projects relating to pool and spa facilities
• Ensure all plant rooms and working areas are kept clean, safe and organised
• Report hazards, defects and maintenance requirements promptly

Qualifications:

• Trade qualification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering or Pool Plant Operations (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent) is essential
• PWTAG Pool Plant Operators Certificate (or equivalent) is highly desirable
• Proven experience maintaining pool plant systems, hot tubs or spa facilities is essential
• Good understanding of water treatment systems, dosing equipment and filtration systems
• Knowledge of health & safety, COSHH and water hygiene regulations is essential
• Additional maintenance or multi-trade skills are desirable

Key Skills:

• Strong technical understanding of pool plant and water systems
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving ability
• High attention to detail, especially in water quality and compliance
• Practical, hands-on and proactive approach to maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage routine schedules effectively
• Strong communication skills and teamwork across departments
• Good organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate records
• Flexible and adaptable to both planned and reactive maintenance work
• Commitment to safety, compliance and exceptional guest experience standards
