Full-Time Position (40 hours) - Shifts typically vary between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Occasional evening shifts may be required depending on business needs.

Sopwell House is a luxurious, family-owned Georgian country house hotel offering timeless elegance and modern comfort. We’re proud to be a place where exceptional service is delivered with warmth, pride and purpose. We’re currently looking for a passionate Painter & Decorator to join our dedicated Maintenance team.

Your role in our family:

  • Ensure all painting and decorating work is completed to a high standard, following all relevant health and safety guidelines
  • Work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, carrying out daily duties from the defects logbook
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring all log sheets and records are kept up to date
  • Carry out repairs and project work as required
  • Take full responsibility for completing all assigned jobs to a high standard
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure smooth coordination of works
  • Minimise disruption to guests at all times while carrying out duties
  • Report any problems or issues to your manager, or to senior management in their absence

What would make you the perfect fit?

  • A genuine passion for maintenance, painting & decorating, and delivering high standards of workmanship.
  • Previous experience in a Painter & Decorator role, ideally within a hotel, commercial, or high-quality environment.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.
  • A proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • A professional manner with the ability to remain guest-aware and minimise disruption.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a close-knit maintenance team.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.
