PopUp Bagels is looking for an energetic, hands-on Bagel Sous (Assistant Manager) to help lead our team, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and support daily kitchen operations. If you love great food, developing people, and working in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

This position is based in , and all responsibilities must be performed in compliance with applicable federal, California state, and local employment, workplace safety, food safety, and health regulations.

This position offers the opportunity to grow into a General Manager role as you develop your leadership, operational, and team-building skills within the organization.

What You'll Do

Lead & Develop the Team

• Lead, coach, and motivate team members during every shift.
• Train employees on recipes, food quality standards, and operational procedures.
• Support onboarding and development of new team members.
• Help create a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.

Drive Operational Excellence

• Support inventory management, prep production, food quality, and waste control.
• Ensure smooth openings, closings, and daily shift execution.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational standards.

Deliver Exceptional Guest Experiences

• Ensure every guest receives outstanding hospitality.
• Monitor order accuracy and food presentation.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
• Help create an experience that keeps guests coming back.

Maintain Food Safety & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with Santa Barbara County Environmental Health Services requirements, the California Retail Food Code (CalCode), and PopUp Bagels food safety and sanitation standards.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workplace for team members and guests.

What You Bring

• 1+ year of leadership experience in a restaurant, bakery, café, or hospitality environment.
• Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Positive attitude and team-first mindset.
• Passion for hospitality, great food, and career growth.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout scheduled shifts.

Paid Training Opportunity

As part of your onboarding and leadership development, selected candidates will participate in training in New York. The Company will provide approved travel and lodging accommodations associated with the training program. This unique opportunity allows you to learn directly from experienced leaders, build your operational knowledge, and immerse yourself in the PopUp Bagels culture before helping grow our California operations.
