Radio City Music Hall

Radio City Music Hall is not only a national landmark but also an integral part of the heart and soul of New York City. Known as “The Showplace of the Nation,” it was the first building in the Rockefeller Complex and is the largest indoor theater in the world. First built in 1932, The Madison Square Garden Company invested in a complete restoration in 1999 that returned the theater to its original grandeur. The acclaimed restoration touched all aspects of the venue, from burnishing the ceilings with 720,000 sheets of gold and aluminum leaf to installing state-of-the-art sound systems, lighting and HDTV capabilities.<br><br>The legendary venue has played host to many of the biggest names in music, including Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Jason Mraz, Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews Band, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin and Paul Simon, as well as a ten-night stand by comedian Dave Chappelle, and some of the country’s most exciting entertainment events, including the Tony Awards, the Daytime Emmy Awards and NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”<br><br>Each year, Radio City is the home of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, which was first performed in December of 1933. The Christmas Spectacular is a cherished holiday tradition for generations of families with more than one million people attending the beloved holiday theatrical annually.
