Job description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

 

The Payroll Officer Under direct supervision of the Financial Controller, performs various complex accounting functions which include; processing payroll, developing various reports by researching and gathering information, statistics, etc.,

maintaining confidential payroll records, filing payroll tax returns, collecting, organizing and reporting financial information used in audits, budget development, and other duties as assigned. Ensures all payroll processes are in accordance with hotel accounting and financial controls and within the policies and procedures as outlined in the hotel and corporate policies and guidelines, and the hotel’s business plan.

 

 

TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·       Ensures that the clocking system is pulling through all payroll information and notifies IT Department for any problems with the system.

·      Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.

·       Process and issue employee pay checks and statements of earnings and deductions.

·       Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information in order to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.

·       Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, promotions, demotions, terminations, death and resignations, in order to maintain and update payroll records.

·     Processes payroll accruals such as leave pay and gratuity.

·       Processes Payroll tax deposits, manual tax calculations/reconciliations, quarterly, monthly and annual tax reporting.

·     Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements.

·       Assists in the preparation of month end reconciliation and in the final monthly closing of the payroll system

·       Prepares reports as requested to develop a more informative database for improved management decision making and critical evaluation of work activities
