About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented Corporate Accounting Trainee to join our Finance team in Madrid. The trainee will support the Senior Manager in daily accounting operations and will collaborate with both the Madrid entities and the Headquarters in Brussels. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, international environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will support the Senior Manager in the following areas:
Accounting
· Assist with general accounting activities in accordance with the Spanish General Accounting Plan
(PGC)
· Assist with general accounting activities in according with IFRS rules
· Follow up of Process for issued and received invoices
· Support payroll accounting and postings
· Assist with provisions, loans, interest, and tax accounting
Tax Compliance
· Support the preparation and submission of tax forms (withholding tax – IRPF, VAT, intra-community
transactions)
· Perform daily review of SII (Immediate Supply of Information) submissions
· Act as a point of contact with the Spanish Tax Authority (AEAT) or other official organisms
Cash Management
· Support with manual and urgent payments
· Support direct debit processes and banking formalities
Reporting
· Support the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheet and profit &
loss
· Assist in financial reporting tasks
Accounts Payable
· Review and validate incoming invoices
· Ensure correct coding and postings
· Verify VAT treatment and approval workflows
Month-End Closing
· Support month-end activities, including:
Allocation of invoices by cost center
Payroll postings
Reconciliation and review of accounts
Other
· Perform additional accounting and finance-related tasks as required Requirements Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field Languages
· Fluent in Spanish and English (both written and spoken)
· Additional languages are a plus Technical Skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel – advanced level required)
· Knowledge of SAP is a plus Key Competencies
· Proactive mindset with a strong sense of initiative
· Sound judgment and decision-making ability, with a balanced and responsible approach
· Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills
· Analytical thinking and attention to detail
· Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to propose ideas and process enhancements
