OUR HOTEL 

This modern hotel is in London Docklands, 0.1 mi from Canning Town Station, a 20-minute drive from the O2 Arena and a 10-minute drive from the ExCel Exhibition Center. It has large air-conditioned rooms with power showers. The colorful rooms feature work desks and a TV with Freeview channels. Rooms also have hairdryers, tea/coffee facilities and telephones. The Holiday Inn Express Royal Docks has secure on-site car parking and a 24-hour front desk. The on-site bar offers a selection of cold and hot beverages; a free breakfast is served daily. Guests can also make use of the business facilities on site. The Holiday Inn Express Royal Docks is outside London's congestion zone. London City Airport is 2 mi from the hotel, and Canary Wharf is a 10-minute drive away or 2 stops on the underground.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FINANCE AND OPERATIONS ASSISTANT AT OUR HOTEL

What you'll be doing..

  • Revenue validation and posting of all revenue journals into the accounting system.

  • Cash control including preparation and posting of bank reconciliations, cash & credit card reconciliations .

  • Prepare monthly P&L accounts (actual vs budget).

  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, ensuring variances and areas of risk are identified and actioned appropriately.

  • To prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns and assist with VAT inspections as required. 

  • Preparation of year end audit files, and liaising with auditors. 

  • Maintenance of hotel pay in books and cheque deposits 

  • To support other members of the finance team (Purchase Ledger). 

  • To support GMs & hotel personnel to understand and interpret financial reporting, including hotel finance training requirements 

  • Assist/cover Reception/Bar shifts. 

    WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • A Minimum of 3 years experience in a Finance background.
  • A people-person with front desk or guest services experience, and ideally some leadership skills under their belt. 
  • Exceptional communication skills and a natural problem-solver, ready to step in when things get busy.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, especially when handling guest reservations and billing accuracy.
  • Team-focused and collaborative, creating a positive, supportive environment for colleagues and guests alike.
  • Ready to make quick, confident decisions that keep things running smoothly.
  • High energy and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, guest-facing role where every day brings something new.
