OUR HOTEL

We’re not just refurbishing The Met, we’re reimagining what a hotel can be. Bold, buzzing, and full of flair, our reinvented Leeds landmark is becoming a destination where creativity flows from the walls to the food on the plate. From dramatic interiors to dishes that turn heads, we’re not afraid to be different and we’re looking for a team that feels the same.

That’s where you come in. We’re searching for a Commis Chef with passion, drive, and a hunger to learn. Someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, master the craft, and help create plates that are anything but ordinary. If you’ve got a love for food and an eye for detail, this is your chance to be part of something exciting from the ground up.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMIS CHEF AT THE MET HOTEL, LEEDS

As our Commis Chef, you won’t just support the kitchen, you’ll be part of the heartbeat that keeps it running. Working closely with our senior chefs, you’ll prep, plate, and bring ideas to life in a space where creativity thrives. Here’s what you’ll be up to:

  • Prepare fresh ingredients to support daily service across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and events, from peeling and chopping to sauces and garnishes
  • Assist chefs during service, ensuring each dish is delivered with care, consistency, and attention to detail
  • Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and organised. You’ll take pride in maintaining high hygiene standards and following health and safety guidelines
  • Rotate stock, label ingredients, and make sure everything is ready when the heat’s on, because great food starts with great prep
  • Learn from senior chefs and soak up knowledge every shift, supporting the team across all areas of the kitchen
