At RBH we believe our people are our biggest assets and understand the value in putting them first. OUR HOTEL

The Met Hotel, Leeds is in the midst of a bold transformation. A complete refurbishment is turning this iconic property into a vibrant lifestyle hotel, right in the heart of Leeds city centre. Think elevated design, curated experiences, and unforgettable stays.

While the contractors bring the vision to life, we’re laying the foundations of a sharp, skilled team who’ll keep the hotel running like clockwork now, during the refurb, and long after. We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Maintenance Manager who thrives on organisation, precision and progress. Someone who’s as comfortable leading a team as they are rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in.

If you thrive behind the scenes and take pride in creating spaces that run effortlessly and look exceptional, this could be your moment. If you’re ready to lead with purpose, fix with finesse, and play a key role in shaping a hotel with real character — we want to hear from you.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAINTENANCE MANAGER AT THE MET HOTEL, LEEDS

You’re the steady hand behind the scenes. Whether it’s making sure rooms are spotless and systems are running or coordinating with contractors on site, you’re the go-to for keeping everything working, shining, and guest-ready even in the middle of a transformation.

Reporting to our Operations Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the hotel delivers excellence at every level both front and back of house.

What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of the entire hotel maintenance operation. Every system, every space, every screw
  • Lead a small but mighty in-house team of two technicians with purpose, pace and pride
  • Manage a proactive, preventative maintenance plan that keeps us ahead of the game and reduces reactive repairs
  • Collaborate daily with contractors delivering the hotel’s refurbishment, aligning access, plans and timelines
  • Work closely with housekeeping, front of house and other departments to support quick responses, smooth operations and great guest experiences
  • Track and manage the maintenance budget with a sharp eye, negotiating smartly and making cost-effective choices that never compromise quality
  • Ensure health, safety and compliance standards are met at all times, across all areas
  • Regularly inspect guest rooms, public spaces and back-of-house areas to ensure standards are met and exceeded
  • Stay on the pulse of new tools, systems and technology that can improve efficiency, safety and sustainability
  • Encourage development and growth within your team, nurturing a culture of learning, reliability and excellence
  • Keep calm under pressure, because problems will pop up, and when they do, you’re already halfway to the solution

  • Great organisational and communication skills. You know how to keep things moving and people informed
  • Financial know-how, with experience managing maintenance budgets and supplier contracts
  • A calm, practical approach to problem-solving. You get stuck in and get things done
  • Flexibility, available for occasional evenings, weekends or emergency call-outs if required
  • Real pride in your work, and a drive to keep raising the bar
