Guest Service Assistant – Reception Based
The Duke of Cornwall

Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a friendly and enthusiastic Guest Service Assistant to join the team at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel as we prepare to reopen this iconic Plymouth hotel. This is more than a traditional receptionist role. While reception will be your main base, you will be trained to support different areas of the hotel, including food and beverage, the bar and housekeeping. You will play an important part in creating a warm welcome for every guest while helping the wider hotel team deliver a seamless experience throughout their stay.

We are provisionally planning to reopen the hotel at the beginning of September 2026. Please be aware that this date may change as our reopening plans progress, and we will keep successful candidates updated throughout the recruitment process.

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is one of Plymouth’s most iconic and historic hotels, known for its grand Victorian architecture, rich character and warm hospitality. As we prepare to reopen the hotel, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a new team and help shape the guest experience from the very beginning. With 72 individually designed bedrooms, impressive event spaces and a prominent city-centre location close to Plymouth Hoe, the hotel provides a truly unique place to work and build your hospitality career.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Duke of Cornwall team and create genuine hospitality for both our guests and colleagues. Dating back to 1863, the Duke is a beautiful and characterful hotel originally built close to Plymouth’s former railway station. The hotel has five impressive event spaces, including our stunning ballroom, where we host a wide range of celebrations and events. Located within walking distance of Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican, the hotel is perfectly placed close to some of the city’s best places to eat, shop and explore.
