Reservations Agent & Host
Petersham Nurseries – Richmond
At Petersham Nurseries, we are known for creating beautiful, considered experiences rooted in seasonality, sustainability, and genuine hospitality. We are looking for a highly organised and personable Reservations Agent & Host to join our team and become the first point of contact for our guests.
This is a reservations-led role, with occasional support on the restaurant floor as a host during quieter service periods.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing all guest bookings, communications, and reservation systems, ensuring a seamless and well-balanced service from the very first interaction.
Alongside this, you will occasionally support the restaurant team by welcoming and seating guests, maintaining a warm and professional front-of-house presence.
This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple systems while maintaining Petersham’s high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
Reservations
Manage all incoming calls between 9am – 5pm (and until 9pm on Fridays & Saturdays), ensuring no enquiry is missed
Respond promptly and professionally to all reservation emails and guest enquiries
Confirm bookings and manage Afternoon Tea pre-orders, including allergens and dietary requirements
Oversee bookings via SevenRooms, ensuring optimal table allocation and balanced service flow
Maintain accurate guest profiles, notes, and booking systems (SevenRooms, OpenTable, The Fork)
Monitor cancellations, deposits, and large party confirmations
Handle all guest communication across phone, email, and in person with warmth and precision
Guest Experience
Act as a key point of contact for guest queries, feedback, and reviews across platforms
Ensure all interactions reflect Petersham’s ethos of thoughtful, attentive hospitality
Support daily service feedback and weekly reservations reporting
Operations & Team Collaboration
Work closely with the Reservations Manager, restaurant management, and kitchen teams
Assist with training, SOP updates, and maintaining reservations standards
Ensure the phone system is always attended, coordinating team cover during breaks
Host Support (when required)
Welcome and seat guests with professionalism and warmth
Maintain clear communication between the reservations desk and restaurant floor
Support smooth guest flow during non-peak periods
About You
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Confident managing multiple booking systems
Calm under pressure with a proactive approach
A natural host with a passion for hospitality
Previous experience in reservations or front-of-house preferred
