Description

Are you a dynamic and passionate leader with a flair for exceptional hospitality? The Reading Room, housed within luxurious The Roseate Reading, is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead one of Reading’s most iconic dining destinations.

Celebrated for its refined modern European cuisine, glamorous cocktail bar, and charming Afternoon Tea service, The Reading Room is more than just a restaurant — it’s a culinary experience that blends elegance with innovation. Our frequently evolving menu champions the freshest seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, while our bar boasts a curated selection of fine wines, signature cocktails, and immaculately served all-day dishes.

As Restaurant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the personalized, detail-driven service that has made The Reading Room a standout in Reading’s vibrant dining scene. From overseeing room service to curating the guest journey across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you will ensure every moment exceeds expectations.

Join us and lead a passionate team in a stunning venue where creativity, service excellence, and guest satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in restaurant or F&B management, ideally within a luxury hotel or fine dining environment.

  • Passionate about food, wine, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident using modern booking systems and POS platforms.
  • Flexible and adaptable — able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a dedicated front-of-house team, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations across breakfast, lunch, dinner, bar service, private events, conference and room service.
  • Uphold and enhance the brand's reputation for outstanding service and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to align service with seasonal menus and events.
  • Manage restaurant reservations, guest feedback, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and cost management for the restaurant and bar.
  • Maintain high standards in cleanliness, health & safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Support recruitment, on-boarding, and ongoing staff training and development.

Package benefits:

  • Additional holiday day off for your child first day at primary school
  • Recognition for every year of service anniversary including complimentary stay and additional holiday day after 3rd year of service
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Meals on duty
  • Provision and laundry of uniform
  • Employee recognition awards
  • Performance review and personal development plan
  • Internal transfer and promotion opportunities
  • Support in the development of your career
  • Preferential room rates within the hotel group for yourself and family & friends
