Description

We're looking for an exceptional Commis Pastry Chef to join our team at Richmond Hill Hotel, an independent Georgian gem overlooking London's greenest borough.

Just a stone's throw from Richmond Park, we're where city buzz meets leafy calm. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and their warmth, energy, and creativity have earned us a place on The Sunday Times' and The Caterer's lists of top industry employers.

Our culture? Award-winning, progressive, and delightfully independent. The building might be historic, but our thinking isn't. We're refreshingly free-spirited and like to do things differently – from our décor to our people. Here, being yourself isn't just encouraged; it's essential.

We believe real luxury is found in thoughtful touches, genuine care, and attention to detail. That's what makes our guests feel truly special.

What’s in it for you…

  • You’ll enjoy a competitive annual salary of £28k plus monthly service charge averaging £500-£600 per month
  • Access to hundreds of online perks & discounts
  • Free health cashback plan for you and your family
  • Extra day’s holiday for every year you work for us (up to 5 additional days)
  • Salary sacrifice schemes to help you buy a bike, laptop, or gym membership
  • Free use of our onsite gym, meals on duty and parking on site
  • Bespoke career development through internal and external training schemes
  • Refer a friend scheme, with up to £500 incentive Hotel recognition Programme including our Employee of the Month and Manager of the Quarter awards, long service awards, rewards payments
  • Flexible working patterns, as well as much more...

Is this Commis Pastry Chef position right for me?

As a Commis Pastry Chef, you will support the Pastry Chef and wider Kitchen team in preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality desserts, pastries, afternoon tea items, and baked goods for our restaurant, events, weddings, and conferences.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their pastry skills in a professional hotel environment while learning from an experienced and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and production of desserts, cakes, pastries, breads, and afternoon tea items
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and health and safety standards
  • Support the Kitchen team during busy service periods
  • Assist with stock rotation and storage in line with food safety procedures
  • Help minimise food waste and contribute to kitchen efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Kitchen department

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for pastry and baking
  • Has previous experience in a professional kitchen environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Has a passion for delivering exceptional food and guest experiences
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their work
  • Is organised, reliable, and eager to learn and develop their culinary skills
  • Can perform well under pressure whilst maintaining high standards
  • Has a flexible approach and is willing to support all areas of the kitchen operation
  • Is committed to food safety, quality, and continuous improvement

If you're ready to take the next step in your culinary career and thrive in a team that values your skills, creativity, and development, we'd love to hear from you.

Please Note: Richmond Hill Hotel is unable to provide Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this role. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
