People Manager

  • Up to £42,000 per year, based on experience
  • Plus, up to £2,400 per year in tips (paid weekly, based on last year’s earnings), giving total potential earnings of £44,400 per year.
  • Permanent Contract 40hr week

We’re looking for a People Manager to join the Rick Stein People Team. This role covers Learning and Development, HR Services and Recruitment and we are looking for someone with experience in all three aspects.

What you'll be getting up to:

  • Working with the people strategy for the business to support a framework for attracting, retaining, developing employees, and driving the culture to support the overall goals of the business.
  • Championing a culture of continuous learning and improvement, identifying needs and opportunities to drive capability at all levels.
  • Driving to embed an effective performance management culture and processes, analysing the quality, identifying the development opportunities and evaluating the process to drive success and buy in.
  • Analysing performance against KPI’s, reviewing the data, challenging areas of improvement and having a view of what’s going on to make decisions which drive performance in the right direction.
  • Facilitating collaboration by canvasing different perspectives and views to formulate plans, gaining support to be successful, and sharing and seeking feedback.
  • Supporting employee wellbeing ensuring we are doing the right thing, and employees feel safe, supported, and looked after.
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive onboarding process for all employees joining the business, so they feel comfortable and confident, and are excited to join.
  • Driving an award-winning induction programme for all new starters, building confidence and knowledge for success.
  • Owning the people team policies to support the business to drive correct behaviours, giving the tools to empower manager to make the right decision, eliminating the risks, setting the tolerance, and driving consistency.
  • Keeping the business risk free by giving good advice around employee relations, ensuring as a business we are consistent and fair, and stay within employment law.
  • Developing and delivering learning development programmes for aspiring and current management teams on behaviours in line with capability needs.

Are you right for this role? You'll have:

  • Proven experience as a People Manager or HR Manager
  • Background in hospitality, retail, or another fast-paced multi-site environment preferred
  • Hands-on approach and confident operating in a small-team setting
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards it) preferred 
  • Experience of delivering leadership training and development essential
