Sous Chef – Rick Stein Restaurants

At Rick Stein Restaurants, we’re passionate about fresh seafood, simple cooking done brilliantly, and kitchens that run smoothly behind the scenes. We’re now looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and lead our kitchen team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
  • Leading service, ensuring food is delivered on time and to brand standards
  • Cooking and overseeing dishes using fresh, high-quality ingredients, with a focus on seafood
  • Managing, training, and motivating the kitchen team
  • Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are always met
  • Supporting stock control, ordering, and waste management
  • Helping to maintain high standards of consistency, presentation, and quality
  • Stepping in to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up
  • A passion for food, quality, and consistency
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire a kitchen team
  • Calm, organised, and confident under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and kitchen best practice
  • A reliable, professional team player with a positive attitude

 St Petroc’s Bistro was the second of Rick Stein and Jill Stein’s restaurants opened in 1988. Our Bistro has grown over the years specialising in bistro food from Britain, France, Spain and Italy. In 2016 Ruby’s Bar was opened next door to St Petroc’s Bistro, our front of house team enjoy looking after guests at both St Petroc’s Bistro and Ruby’s Bar.
