Head of Commercial

The Wave, Bristol, is recruiting for a Head of Commercial. This role will be responsible for driving revenue generation for The Wave, filling our lake, growing our community, generating on-site traffic and delivering on top-line performance. The Head of Commercial will be in charge of planning, implementing, and monitoring our sales and marketing initiatives across different channels and platforms. Always working closely with the wider business to ensure that our products and services meet the needs and expectations of our target market.

The Wave is a slice of the ocean inland, where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can experience the joy of surfing. About the role …

  • Align marketing, sales, pricing and customer proposition to drive sustainable top-line revenue generation 
  • Analyse market trends, customer behaviour and sentiment, and competitor activities to inform business strategies 
  • Deliver surf booking volumes and footfall to the business 
  • Develop pricing strategies to deliver on volume and profitability 
  • Lead on yield management to improve average price per surf 
  • Develop and deliver the consumer marketing strategy to encourage new visitors and deliver repeat visits 
  • Deliver reactive campaigns to respond to trading and fold into strategic thinking 
  • Lead a group and event sales strategy to drive high value bookings 
  • Create strategic and commercial partnerships to aid revenue growth 
  • Ensure that our commercial goals are aligned with our purpose and brand vision 
  • Work with all departments to ensure customer journey aligns with our brand and is delivered digitally and physically 
  • Manage the commercial team and deliver feedback and guidance to achieve business goals and personal growth


Your Background …

  • Experience in delivering across sales, marketing and pricing 
  • Proficiency in digital marketing  
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills 
  • Track record of delivering sales and volume targets 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • A creative thinker 
  • Proactive and energetic approach 
  • Ability to prioritise based on team goals and key milestones
