Job Title: Kitchen Shift Manager
Hours: 30+ hours per week

Role Overview:
The Kitchen Shift Manager is responsible for supervising daily kitchen operations during assigned shifts, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and quality standards are consistently met. This role involves working directly with raw chicken products and overseeing staff to maintain safe handling, storage, and preparation procedures in line with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise kitchen staff during shifts to ensure efficient and safe operations

  • Ensure correct handling, preparation, storage, and cooking of raw chicken to prevent cross-contamination

  • Monitor food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards at all times

  • Lead by example in following food safety regulations and company procedures

  • Manage shift schedules, staff breaks, and workflow to meet service demands

  • Conduct temperature checks and ensure correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Address any food safety concerns or incidents promptly and report as required

  • Support training and development of kitchen team members

  • Assist with stock control, rotation, and waste management

  • Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned, maintained, and used safely

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous kitchen or food service supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene, particularly when handling raw chicken

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of HACCP or equivalent food safety standards is an advantage

Working Conditions:

  • Hands-on role involving prolonged standing and manual handling

  • Regular contact with raw poultry and food preparation equipment

  • Shift-based work across a 30-hour working week, including weekends or evenings as required
