Job Overview

The Fountain is a vibrant, wet-led pub in the heart of Chichester known for its buzzing atmosphere, community vibe, and standout weekend live music events. We are looking for an energetic, hands-on Pub Supervisor to lead our front-of-house team during busy shifts. This is not just a shift-running role; it is a career pathway. For the right candidate who proves their leadership, commercial awareness, and operational skills, this position is designed to transition into an Assistant Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shift Leadership: Oversee daily bar operations, manage the floor team, and maintain high standards of speed and customer service during high-pressure shifts.
  • Live Music Venue Management: Co-ordinate front-of-house operations during live band nights on Fridays and Saturdays, managing peak crowds, safety, and venue flow.
  • Wet-Led Excellence: Maintain top-tier cellar standards, manage high-volume draft beer quality, lines, and stock rotation.
  • Financial Accountability: Handle cash management, till reconciliations, and secure opening/closing procedures as a primary keyholder.
  • Team Development: Train, mentor, and motivate bar staff to build a positive, energetic team environment.
  • Management Shadowing: Step up to support stock audits, ordering, and rota planning to actively prepare for an Assistant Manager role.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: supervisory or team leader experience in a busy, pub or bar environment.
  • Event Confident: Experience or a strong comfort level working in venues featuring live bands, and late-night operations.
  • Cellar Skills: Confident handling a wet-led cellar, including changing kegs/casks and maintaining strict hygiene standards.
  • Credentials: A valid Personal Licence (APLH) is highly desirable but not essential (we can provide training for the right candidate).
  • Attributes: A highly organized problem solver with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to keep a team motivated when the bar is three-deep.
What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • A vibrant, fun working environment centered around live entertainment and community.
  • Staff discounts and team social events.
