The Wave is the UK's first
inland surf destination, set on the edge of Bristol. We've built something
genuinely unique — a world-class wave pool surrounded by open water, woodland, a
campsite (The Field) and safari tents (The Camp). Whether someone is catching
their first wave or chasing their hundredth, The Wave is where it happens.
The Wave is a place where people and nature come together - creating the right environment for people to thrive - our guests, our team, and our community. Our purpose is to nurture a world of health, hope and happiness with every wave. We’re driven by a spirit of innovation, purpose and possibility.
This is a role for someone who understands how to build a community online, move with the rhythms of a brand rooted in surf culture, and produce content that earns attention rather than just asking for it.
Who We Are
Our Values – We Are FAIR
Fun – We take fun seriously! We put smiles on faces.
Adventurous – We’re game changers, adaptable and explore with optimism.
Impact – We’re here to create a healthier connection between people and planet.
Respect – We care for each other, our customers and our community.
These values guide how we show up, how we make decisions, and how we work together - every day, in every role.
The Role
You'll own The Wave's organic social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Threads — from planning and directing photoshoot content on-site to designing posts, writing copy, and growing our following across each platform.
Alongside organic content, you'll work closely with our performance marketing agency, supporting the delivery of paid social campaigns. Paid social is where the majority of our marketing budget sits, so this is a significant part of the role.
You'll also take the lead on sourcing and managing influencer partnerships — identifying the right people, handling outreach, coordinating visits, and managing payment in kind arrangements end-to-end.
What You'll Be Doing
Organic social media
• Work with the Head of Marketing to own and manage the organic social media strategy across platforms
• Plan and manage a monthly content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Threads
• Direct our in-house Creative Executive to capture photo and video content on-site at The Wave, working with the wider Wavemaker team to plan shoots around sessions, events, and seasonal campaigns
• Design posts and stories using brand-aligned templates and your own creative judgment
• Write engaging, on-brand copy for all organic posts
• Monitor channel performance, report on key metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth), and use data to inform future content decisions
• Stay ahead of platform changes and content trends to keep our channels fresh and relevant
Paid social support
• Act as the day-to-day liaison with our performance marketing agency
• Brief in creative assets for paid campaigns, ensuring brand consistency across organic and paid output
• Manage budget allocation
• Supply the agency with fresh content, imagery, and copy as needed
• Review ad creative and provide feedback before campaigns go live
• Track campaign performance alongside the agency and feed learnings back into organic content planning
Influencer and creator partnerships
• Identify and vet influencers aligned with The Wave's brand — surf, outdoor lifestyle, wellness, and adventure audiences
• Handle outreach, negotiation, and onboarding of new partners
• Coordinate visits and experiences at The Wave, ensuring partners have what they need to produce strong content
• Manage payment in kind arrangements, including tracking deliverables and ensuring content is posted as agreed
• Build and maintain an influencer contact database for ongoing and future partnership activity
What We're Looking For
Essential
• Proven experience running brand social media accounts, with a portfolio you're proud of
• Strong visual eye - you know what looks good and what fits a brand
• Confident with video and photography
• Experience working with or supporting paid social campaigns
• Familiarity with social scheduling and analytics tools including Meta platforms: Business Manager, Meta Business Suite, Instagram, Facebook and Threads.
• Excellent written communication - clear, engaging, and adaptable to different tones and audiences
• Organised, self-sufficient, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams at once
Desirable
• Experience managing influencer or creator partnerships
• A background in or genuine affinity with surf, outdoor, or active lifestyle culture
• Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)
• Experience with content briefing for paid performance campaigns
What We Offer
We aim to create a workplace where people feel valued, energised and able to bring their best. At The Wave you’ll find:
· 30 days paid holiday (inclusive of bank holidays).
· Free access to our staff surf sessions.
· Multiple discounts across our surf and other offerings.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
We’re built on the idea that everyone should have the chance to experience the joy of surfing and the outdoors - and that starts with our own team. We’re committed to creating a place where people genuinely feel like they belong and be themselves.
We welcome different backgrounds, perspectives and
experiences, and we work hard to make sure the right people are in the right
roles, with the support they need to thrive.
Please note this role is £27,000 pro-rata 3 days a week.
