The Prep Cook at SEIA is responsible for preparing ingredients and foundational components that support consistent, high-quality execution of the menu. This role requires precision, organization, and respect for Italian culinary technique, ensuring the kitchen is properly stocked and ready for service across all dayparts.
Your Responsibilities:
Prepare, portion, and label ingredients according to SEIA recipes and Chef specifications, including vegetables, proteins, sauces, and foundational components.
Execute knife work with accuracy and consistency, including chopping, slicing, and mincing to precise standards.
Support breakfast and daytime preparation, including breads, pastries, and Italian-style breakfast items as assigned.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient prep station in compliance with health, safety, and HACCP standards.
Assist with proper storage, rotation, and handling of ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
Support inventory awareness by communicating prep levels, shortages, or quality concerns to kitchen leadership.
Assist Line Cooks and Chefs as needed during service or peak prep periods.
Uphold SEIA kitchen standards, discipline, and professionalism at all times.
Support opening and closing kitchen procedures as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen environment, preferably Italian-focused.
Strong knife skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with Italian ingredients and foundational techniques (e.g., sauces, pasta components, risotto bases).
Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
Strong organizational skills and respect for cleanliness and structure.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Genuine interest in Italian cuisine and professional culinary development.
