Position: Host/Hostess


FLSA Designation: Non- Exempt 


Reports To: FOH Management


Position Description:

As a Host you will be playing a crucial role in the guest experience. You will be the first person that everyone sees as soon as they walk in the door. You are responsible for greeting and seating all guests, answering any phone calls, and greeting guests upon arrival. Ensuring that all guests have positive experiences from the beginning to the end of their dining experience. 


Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Greeting customers as they walk into the restaurant 

  • Helping guests with reservations and guiding them to their table 

  • Giving guests accurate wait time estimates

  • Responsible for knowing restaurant and company information, including, but not limited to, hours of operations, directions, awareness of neighborhood, and sister properties.

  • Be aware of regular guests/VIPs

  • Organized and efficient

  • Excellent communicator with the bar, service, kitchen and management staff.

  • Understand all of the restaurants main dining room seating and configurations

  • Understanding that we require a positive and professional attitude in the workplace

  • Assisting new hires with any training that is needed

  • Being able to assist with picking up any celebratory needs from nearby bakery for employees or guests 


Specific Job Knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours 

  • Bi-Lateral manual dexterity as required to handle, touch and feel, and reach with hands and arms 

  • Ability to talk and hear clearly

  • Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch

  • Ability to taste and smell

  • Ability to utilize close, distance, color and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and to adjust focus

  • Willingness to work at peak hours, which may include evenings, holidays, and weekends

  • English fluency

  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate positively

  • Strong problem-solving acumen


Qualifications Standards:

  • High school graduate or equivalent 

  • At least one year in a high-volume, fine-dining restaurant 

  • Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures

  • Sexual harassment training required
