Position: Runner
FLSA Designation: Non- Exempt
Reports To: FOH Management
Position Description:
As a Runner you are responsible for quickly and accurately serving food to each table in a timely fashion in collaboration with the kitchen staff and wait staff. Your goal will be to provide an overall excellent guest experience while demonstrating professionalism.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Interacts with every guest in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner
Communicates with managers, servers, kitchen staff, bartenders and coordinates delivery of food or beverage to ensure guest satisfaction
Attends all mandatory pre-shift meetings
Completes all opening, closing, and side work tasks thoroughly and promptly
Exhibits positive, approachable body language
Commits to regular, reliable attendance and all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
Wardrobe guidelines
To protect the restaurant and diners by adhering to New York State and City local laws including sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
Adhering to Bowery group standards and expectations
Ability to help support the Barista station ie: making espressos and cappuccinos if necessary
Ability to train incoming hires
Specific Job Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to stand and walk up to 12 hours
Quick and able to learn menu specifications and ability to communicate thoroughly to guests
Bi-Lateral manual dexterity as required to handle, touch and feel, and reach with hands and arms
Able to carry hot and cold plates
Ability to talk and hear clearly
Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch
Ability to taste and smell
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
Ability to utilize close, distance, color and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and to adjust focus
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner
Willingness to work at peak hours, which may include evenings, holidays, and weekends
English fluency
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate positively
Strong problem-solving acumen
Has knowledge of beverage service
Qualifications Standards:
High school graduate or equivalent
Two - three years in a high-volume, fine-dining restaurant
Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures
Sexual harassment training required
