Restaurant Manager for Seasonal, New-American Concept in LIC


Description
A new, seasonal, American restaurant concept opening in Long Island City this September is seeking an experienced and hospitality-focused Restaurant Manager to be a part of our opening team and a building block for our growing hospitality group. Our restaurant, designed by a leading architecture firm, is newly renovated and a blank canvas for our vision of a restaurant unparalleled in the area. The space will accommodate 65 seats inside with an outdoor seating area and also feature a rooftop garden that will provide some produce for our seasonal menu.

The Restaurant Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations in conjunction with the restaurant’s Chef and Owner. They will be tasked with being the voice of our restaurant to both our staff and our guests; they will ensure a smooth and effective service that upholds our high standards for quality and guest experience; and, strive to consistently uphold our inherent values of genuine hospitality and a positive work environment for our team. Ideal candidates are personable, dynamic leaders, well-organized, and passionate about hospitality. Primary Responsibilities and Key’s for Success:

- Responsible for all day-to-day operations and management of the restaurant in conjunction with the Chef and Owner
- Acts as a constant steward in the promotion and support of our unique brand and culture
- Displays excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills as well as dedication in providing clear direction and exceptional team building skills
- Organizes, directs, validates and follows up on all training programs for team members
- Determines staffing needs and hires team members who have the energy, passion and ability to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests
- Responsible for staff scheduling and ensuring adequate coverage for each shift while maintaining efficient labor percentage
- Regularly interacts with guests throughout each shift, ensuring they receive perfect food, exceptional beverages, and personalized service
- Ensures that the restaurant is set up accurately for every shift and broken down accurately after every shift
- Ensures the restaurant is impeccably clean, safe & sanitary at all times and requires all team members to abide by the same standards
- Follows correct processes and procedures for all cash handling
- Your leadership and vision will ensure outstanding operating results through exceptional service offerings, an engaged team and consistent guest satisfaction

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a restaurant management role, preferably in fine-dining
- High School diploma or equivalent required; four-year degree preferred
- You exude positivity and possess a “can-do” attitude in the face of adversity
- Must be a self-motivated, dedicated, organized and outgoing leader who can manage our dynamic team with a high level of integrity, honesty and knowledge
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with all managers, team members, and guests
- Strong guest service, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and delegation skills
- Familiarity with restaurant financials including P&L, budgets, costs and projections
- Detailed knowledge of wine and spirits including technical and service aspects
- General knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary terminology
- Understanding of essential HR practices, policies and procedures
- Flexible schedule availability including working nights and weekends
- Basic computer knowledge including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
