SLATE NY is currently searching for a host who would be responsible
for welcoming guests, managing the seating flow to optimize service,
and handling reservations. Also manage the wait list, answer phone
calls, maintain front-of-house cleanliness, and supporting wait staff
during busy shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting & Seating: Welcoming guests warmly, managing the floor plan/seating chart, and escorting guests to tables.
- Reservation & Wait list Management: Providing accurate wait time estimates and managing booking systems.
- Customer Service: Answering phone calls, taking reservations, and addressing guest questions or complaints.
- Area Maintenance: Cleaning menus, organizing the host stand, keeping accurate inventory of games, and maintaining the entryway.
- Support Roles: Assisting FOH staff / covering positions as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication for interacting with guests and staff.
- Customer Service: A friendly, professional, and welcoming demeanor.
- Multitasking: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks (phone, walk-ins) simultaneously.
- Organization: Attention to detail and ability to manage table rotation effectively.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, typically 6-8 hours.
- Basic Technical Skills: Experience with POS systems or reservation software is preferred.
