This role has a tremendous impact on the business by developing and maintaining already existing programs, systems, tools, and procedures that put our Snoozers and Guests first. The work this person accomplishes allows Snooze to cultivate an everlasting people-first culture. The Director of People and Compliance will greatly influence all aspects of the future growth of Snooze through the administration, coordination, and evaluation of current People practices and implementation of solution-based initiatives that will enhance the entire lifecycle of a Snoozer. This amazing people person will lead, direct, and develop a team of service-minded resources for our people. 

The Position specifics!

Taking on the role of the Director of People and Compliance isn’t just about bacon and pancakes. The responsibilities of this position include:

Compliance and Safety

·       Responsible for maintaining, designing and implementing all compliance-related programs including, but not limited to: the annual compliance audit, facilitating annual compliance meetings, I-9 process and audit, all federal/state/county specific compliance requirements, organizing and preparing for quarterly compliance meetings, maintaining employee records, wage and hour, tip programs, breaks and employee-facing policies.

·       Develop and maintain EEO-1 reporting, and compliance, and assist with diversity training and programming.   

·       Oversees all leave and accommodations in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. 

·       Assists with the management, execution, and deliverables for all legal and employment law cases or suits. 

·       Responsible for responding to and leading the Workers Compensation and Guest Liability/Injury claim process, including but not limited to: claims management, claim administration, partnering with the business on the fact finding process, data collection and analysis, and recommending programs and solutions to eliminate risk. 

·       Responsible for overseeing all programs related to the overall safety of our Snoozers and the Snooze Safety programs, which includes HACCP Safety, foodborne illness, general risk, injuries, COVID and other health related safety needs, emotional safety, and supporting the execution of safety trainings which support the needs of the business. 

·       Partners with the Chief People and Culture Officer to lead the Snooze Safety Squad, establishing annual priorities, hosting monthly meetings, and implementing new programs to enhance the Snooze Safety program. 

Compensation 

·       Owns the Snooze compensation programs, including but not limited to: Compensation/market reviews, bonus/recognition programs, comp planning and strategy, and the annual merit process for hourly Snoozers, restaurant managers and the Mothership.

·       Leverages internal and external compensation metrics to produce a twice-annual compensation review across all positions. 

·       Maintains knowledge of industry trends in compensation, benefits, and total rewards and supports with the design, execution, and growth of the Snooze compensation strategy.

·       Partners with the Chief People and Culture Office and Vice President of People and Culture to make recommendations based on the compensation review. 

·       Partners with the Chief People and Culture Office and Vice President of People to execute our three-year compensation strategy.  

People Team Data and HRIS Systems

·       Responsible for executing the monthly People Team retention and turnover dashboard.

·       Partners with various internal and external stakeholders to manage our HRIS systems. 

·       Leverages data to make recommendations on the retention and engagement of our Snoozers. 

People Team Leadership

·       Responsible for leading the Snoozer Experience team and all aspects of the Snoozer Experience including benefits, 401(k) administration, Snoozer Relations, engagement, retention, workers compensation and guest liability programs, and oversees (and executes as needed) all aspects of the Snoozer lifecycle, including but not limited to: retention, on-boarding, off-boarding, exit interviews, development planning, and coaching.

·       Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains all new Snoozers on-boarded onto the Snoozer Experience team.

·       Coaches, develops, leads, inspires, and motivates direct reports. 

·       Develops and implements departmental budget.

·       Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, employment law, and new technologies in human resources; can apply this knowledge and effectively communicate and implement changes in policy and practice. 

·       Collaborate with and lead the Senior Manager of Snoozer Relations on all Snoozer Relations issues and support. 

·       Collaborate with and lead the Snoozer Experience Generalist around all things benefits administration and design, Snoozer perks, total rewards, compliance and ACA management. 

·       Collaborate with and lead the Snoozer Experience Specialist on all things’ engagement and recognition programs, Snoozer Circle of Life, and benefits and compliance administration.   

·       Partners with the Chief People and Culture Officer and the Vice President of People and Culture to lead the strategic vision of the People Team.

·       Other duties and responsibilities assigned to meet the overall goals of the business.

Let’s talk prerequisites! (Education, credentials, and experience)

·       Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.

·       7+ years in Human Resources and 4+ years working in a leadership position that includes direct management/supervisory experience in general Human Resources practices.

·       4+ years managing compliance and risk programs.

·       2+ years working directly in the hospitality, retail or CPG industries (preferred).

·       Human Resources Management Certification (HRCI or SHRM) strongly preferred or the ability to obtain this within the first 6 months of employment.

·       Multi-state compliance experience including California (preferred)

·       Experience designing, developing, and implementing Human Resources practices across multiple generations.

·       Must have the stamina to work 45 to 55 hours per week

·       The travel required for this position is approximately 20% and you must be able to travel for up to 5 days at one time (air, car, bus. Train, and weekend travel all required)

Denver area base salary range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Snooze salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Snooze’s total compensation package for employees.
