Job description
The Soho Grand Hotel is seeking an experienced Concierge to join their team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for shift handover emails, listing messages left for guests etc. to be sent to the front office team
FAQs developed for front office to assist with qualifying Concierge calls
Acknowledge/engage guests while seated at the Concierge desk
Enter all reservations in GoConcierge, and OpenTable / flower orders to go through concierge and in GoConcierge
Ensure guest follow up – close the loop on all incidents, missing packages, and requests
Maintain desk cleanliness – set up and pack down each day
Organize and arrange the following for guests:
Restaurant reservations
Transportation through Ready To Roll car service
Tickets to public performances
Gifts for guests staying in-house (flowers, balloons, amenities, etc.)
Directions
Courier service/package deliveries
Travel arrangements/confirmations
Various NYC tours (personalized walking tours, bus tours, helicopter rides, etc.)
Deliver messages
Beauty services (in room or outside: manicure, pedicure, hair styling, salon appointments, massages, etc.)
Babysitting services
Pet services
Peripheral Functions:

Increase personal knowledge and experience by dining at various restaurants, attending Broadway/off Broadway shows, and familiarization with the location of major attractions throughout the city, particularly downtown destinations.
Attend most or all of the events to which the Concierge is invited (restaurant/store openings, private parties, etc.)
Know what will be opening and when (subscribe to Time Out or another weekly publication flooded with information about NYC)
Establish relationships with people who will be able to help you accomplish the impossible: host and hostesses, restaurant managers, club owners, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:

Job Knowledge and Skills:

Computer efficiency
Opera (PMS)
GoConcierge
GuestWare
Work History:

2 years in Concierge/Hospitality role in NYC
Prior experience that required detailed knowledge of NYC
Prior experience in high-end customer service
Education:

High school diploma or GED (College degree preferred)
Personal Characteristics:

Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly, personable, approachable, well presented
Ability to multi-task
Remain calm under pressure and work efficiently
Diplomacy—keeping a guest happy even if you couldn’t get them into the restaurant they wanted
Excellent follow-through
Good communication skills
