We are currently looking for a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team.

The Role

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in the smooth running of our kitchens by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene are maintained at all times. Supporting the chefs and wider hospitality team, you will help create an efficient working environment that enables exceptional food and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities Kitchen Operations

  • Work in accordance with the kitchen rota and cleaning schedules, ensuring all duties are completed to the required standard.
  • Wash, sanitise, and correctly store pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and kitchen utensils.
  • Ensure all kitchen areas remain clean, organised, and hygienic throughout service and at the end of each shift.
  • Remove waste and recycling from kitchen areas and ensure bins are maintained in a clean condition.
  • Ensure clean crockery and equipment are stored safely and tidily.
  • Maintain cleanliness within staff areas, including the staff room and staff entrance.
  • Keep delivery and service areas clear, clean, and safe at all times.

Teamwork & Support

  • Support the kitchen brigade in maintaining a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across both kitchen and front of house teams.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Attend training and development opportunities as required.
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Head Chef.

Standards & Service

  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.
  • Assist front of house teams with guest requests where appropriate.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment and uphold the high standards expected at Swinton Estate.

Health, Safety & Hygiene

  • Adhere to all food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
  • Use safety equipment and signage, including wet floor signs, when required.
  • Report hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment defects promptly.
  • Follow all emergency and fire safety procedures.
  • Maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene, appearance, and conduct.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and responsibly to protect yourself and others.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues.
  • Is reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Has previous kitchen porter or hospitality experience (desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided).
