Description
We are looking for a Chef/Kitchen Manager to run BOH operations at our twenty year old, critically acclaimed, successful restaurant in Anguilla, British West Indies. The successful candidate must be passionate and knowledgeable about world-wide dining trends. We have a solid menu that is sourced with fresh local produce and sustainable seafood that needs to be continued, but we allow for lots of creativity in the way of nightly specials. We also encourage the Chef to bring his/her personal touches to several dishes on our menus. Due to our tropical location we are looking for a chef to bring a lighter flavor palate to the menu and specials. Our restaurant attracts a very affluent and discerning clientele, and has been featured in countless publications throughout the world; including Conde Nast, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, to name a few. The chef must uphold our reputation and meet our guest expectations not only in taste but in presentation as well.
This is a hands-on working chef position with a 6 day a week work schedule. The successful candidate will work the line in addition to fulfilling all other kitchen management requirements. This job is physically challenging as well and would require picking up provisions from farms and boats. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven-days-a-week, from November through August. We are closed for September and October, but the Chef would only have one month (or five weeks) off as we have several things to do in order to shut down and reopen. We are looking for a long term hire, but also realize that there needs to be a good fit.
Anguilla is a wonderful place with some of the best beaches in the Caribbean but also can be very challenging, both professionally in trying to source things at certain times of the year and personally in that there is very little to do on a small island. However, the restaurant and the clientele we attract is a platform for one to showcase their talents and shine
