District Manager

Reports to: Franchisee

Staff Members reporting to District Manager: Restaurant Managers and Restaurant Assistant Managers

The District Manager will be a strong leader with a desire to train new and current staff at all times, pays strong attention to details, and is energetic about growth in the restaurant industry. The District Manager will manage a network of restaurants within their geographic district but may be asked/required to help in the other districts as needed.

District Manager’s Job Description and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Guest Satisfaction:

●      Maintains customer service levels of self and all staff to ensure customer service meets and exceeds the guest’s expectations

●      Provides ongoing customer service training to all staff, including managers, promoting high standards of excellence

Staff Development:

●      Coaches and trains shift managers, assistant managers, and managers on operational excellence.

●      Coordinates New Hire Paperwork and monitors training processes to ensure quality training of employees.

●      Provides leadership to the management team and staff in the geographic area to ensure compliance with standards as set in the Subway Operations Manual and applicable government regulations.

●      Assigns to staff and completes University of Subway courses

●      Attends all restaurant staff meetings

●      Work on shift with staff throughout the week to gauge flow of service, customer service, etc.

●      Reviews weekly schedules with each manager for final approval overview. Schedules must be out no later than 8:00 PM on the Friday prior to the next business week. Schedules must meet required labor percentages and be completely done with full coverage, LiveIQ Profiles, etc.

Operations:

●      Ensures that correct operational procedures are followed and takes corrective action if necessary.

●      Ensures and coordinates proper application of all POP and Window Material

●      Works with staff to achieve sales goals, using available reports to identify opportunities. Supports local and national marketing initiatives.

●      Monthly Walk-Through/Self-REV of all locations to be recorded on the online form..


●      Cash flow and inventory controls through spot inventory weekly and cash box counts every time upon entering a restaurant.

●      “5 Minute Walk-Through" with each restaurant visit focusing on customer perception of cleanliness, and food temperatures.

●      Participate in all manager and Subway conference calls.

●      Coordinate all necessary equipment, uniforms, and other supplies as needed for daily restaurant operations.

●      While not the first line of defense, it is expected that the District Manager be available to fill in shifts when needed either on the regular schedule or in emergency situations when team members, Restaurant Managers, and Assistant Managers are not able to.

●      Schedules to be at all inspections with the Subway Market Operations and/or Health Department as allowed by schedule.

Catering and Fundraising:

●      Coordinates, plans, and accurately executes all catering and fundraising orders at the individual restaurants (It is not the expectation the District Manager would make all catering orders, but would help coordinate the necessary items with the Restaurant Managers, ensure staff are trained on catering, etc.)

●      Communication with area partners about fundraising activities, coordinating orders, and delivery (if applicable)

Cash and Inventory Controls:

●      Check money/unit counts and cash boxes on every visit to a restaurant

●      Ensure compliance with applicable rules to cash-ins, etc.

●      Accurately maintain business records for multiple Subway restaurants, including the weekly paperwork for monthly inspections.

●      Consistently and accurately analyzing business records and trends to increase profits

●      Ensures company safety, security, and money handling policies are followed.

●      Review WISR and Control Sheet each week for variances in money and/or product. Diagnose issues and work with restaurant managers to correct.

Technology:

●      Ensures compliance and use of the iPads for inventory, ordering, scheduling, and daily operational activities

●      Schedules necessary maintenance on technology. Updates menus, POS, iPads, and more as needed. Should perform monthly spot checks on the iPad for SubVentory accuracy, etc.

●      Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.

The expectation is that they will work to create a management team and front-line staff in each restaurant that are self-sufficient and can operate all aspects of the restaurant. They will seek to build team unity and promote the growth of employees from Sandwich Artist to higher levels of competency and skills. The ideal person will be a problem solver – diagnosing issues in each restaurant and coming up with solutions. They will create an Action Plan to achieve goals in the restaurants.
