Kitchen Porter - New Opening, SUMI Marylebone

SUMI is entering an exciting new chapter with the opening of our second restaurant in the heart of Marylebone in November 2026. Created by renowned sushi master Endo Kazutoshi and part of Creative Restaurant Group, SUMI has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional Japanese cuisine inspired by authentic traditions, expert craftsmanship and genuine hospitality.

Following the success of our Notting Hill neighbourhood restaurant, SUMI Marylebone will be a gem in one of London's most exciting dining destinations showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients, the best sushi preparation and warm, welcoming service. We're looking for talented individuals to join our founding team from day one, help us bring this exceptional restaurant to life, and grow with us as we establish a new benchmark for Japanese dining in London.

The Role

As our Kitchen Porter, you will be an essential part of our team, providing exceptional cleaning services that enable our chefs to deliver outstanding food and service. You will maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation across our kitchen, wash-up areas and back-of-house facilities, ensuring a safe, hygienic and efficient working environment. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to build a career in hospitality within an acclaimed restaurant group.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Washing, drying and storing all kitchen utensils, including knives, chopping boards, pans, trays and containers immediately after use
  • Washing and drying all crockery and cutlery, transporting them safely to their designated storage areas
  • Cleaning and sanitising all kitchen machinery, equipment, fridges and freezers throughout your shift
  • Sweeping, mopping and cleaning all kitchen areas, staff rooms, corridors and back-of-house facilities regularly
  • Cleaning and sanitising storerooms, fridges, freezers and storage areas, including shelves, handles and filters
  • Monitoring and maintaining chemical supplies, ensuring correct storage and use according to health and safety guidelines
  • Emptying rubbish bins and managing waste disposal, including recycling where appropriate
  • Reporting spillages, breakages, maintenance issues and any hazards immediately to the Chef or Manager
  • Following daily and weekly cleaning schedules to maintain consistent standards
  • Attending training sessions to develop your skills and knowledge

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine commitment to cleanliness and maintaining high hygiene standards
  • Attention to detail and pride in delivering thorough, quality work
  • A positive, reliable and professional attitude with all team members
  • Physical stamina for a hands-on role requiring standing and movement throughout your shift
  • Willingness to learn and follow cleaning procedures and health and safety guidelines
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple cleaning tasks
  • A collaborative approach and desire to support the kitchen team
  • Punctuality and reliability with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
  • No previous experience necessary, we'll provide full training

Salary: Up to £14.01 p/h including service charge, plus benefits

Why Join Us?

At Creative Restaurant Group, we want people to build careers, not simply fill roles. Starting as a Kitchen Porter, you'll receive hands-on training, work in a professional kitchen environment, and have genuine opportunities to progress into supervisory and management roles as your career develops.

  • Join an exciting new restaurant opening from the very beginning
  • Comprehensive hands-on training and ongoing development from day one
  • Work in a professional, supportive kitchen environment
  • Clear opportunities to progress into Head Kitchen Porter and supervisory roles
