Description

Supervisor

Location: SUMI, Notting Hill, London

About Us

SUMI is a much-loved sushi and Japanese restaurant nestled in the heart of Notting Hill. As the sister restaurant to Endo at the Rotunda, SUMI brings refined Japanese cuisine together with heartfelt hospitality in a relaxed yet elegant setting.

Named after Endo’s mother, SUMI is built on warmth, respect, and craft — a place where people matter just as much as the food we serve.

The Role

We are looking for a Supervisor who is ready to step into a positive leadership role and who sees this position as a pathway toward becoming a Manager in the future.

This role is perfect for someone who is already a strong presence on the floor, naturally supportive of their colleagues, and eager to grow. You will act as a bridge between the floor team and management, helping to keep service running smoothly while nurturing a happy, motivated team culture.

You don’t need to have all the answers yet — what matters most is your attitude, curiosity, and desire to lead with kindness and confidence.

What You’ll Receive
  • Shared service charge

  • Delicious and wholesome team meals

  • 50% discount on food and beverages across all our restaurants

  • Tailored training and development to support your progression into management

  • A day off on your birthday

  • Annual Christmas party

  • Referral bonus scheme

  • Wagestream

  • 28 days paid annual leave

  • A supportive culture that genuinely invests in people who want to grow

Who We’re Looking For

You are someone who:

  • Has experience as a Supervisor or a senior team member ready to step up

  • Aspires to become a Manager in the future and is keen to learn and develop

  • Leads by example and brings positive energy to every shift

  • Is approachable, reliable, and respected by peers

  • Enjoys supporting, guiding, and motivating others

  • Communicates clearly and calmly, even in busy service

  • Takes pride in great hospitality and guest experience

  • Thrives in a high-end restaurant environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management team in the smooth running of daily service

  • Act as a key link between the floor team and management

  • Lead shifts with confidence, warmth, and professionalism

  • Support training, onboarding, and development of team members

  • Maintain service standards, presentation, and attention to detail

  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

  • Step up in the absence of management, ensuring consistency and care

Note: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK without the need for corporate sponsorship.
