We’re seeking an experienced Head Baker to lead our bakery and pastry team across Super 8, beginning with our exciting new opening in Soho. This is a leadership position rooted in technical skill, creativity, and team development.
You’ll work closely with our Executive Head Chef and Head Chefs to design and execute a baked goods offering that reflects the culinary identity of Super 8. From classic laminated doughs to traditional North African and French breads, your role will be both creative and operational, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and collaboration.
What You’ll Be DoingLead and manage a team of bakers and pastry chefs across production shifts
Create rotas, manage payroll submissions, and support onboarding and training
Mentor junior chefs and foster a calm, respectful, and inclusive kitchen environment
Develop and refine recipes for breads, viennoiserie, and seasonal desserts
Ensure consistency in flavour, portioning, and presentation
Incorporate unique culinary influences in collaboration with chefs
Oversee daily baking production, ensuring high standards and efficiency
Manage early morning prep and timely delivery across restaurant sites
Monitor gross profit margins and waste to maintain cost-effective practices
Promote clear, calm communication with all kitchen and front-of-house teams
Support a positive working culture and proactive problem-solving
Participate in service when needed and adapt to day-to-day kitchen flow
At least 2 years’ experience as a Head Baker or in a similar senior pastry role
Technical proficiency in French baking, laminated doughs, and dough fermentation
A genuine passion for baking and a commitment to quality
Strong leadership and organisational skills
A calm, solutions-focused mindset, even in high-pressure environments
Experience in a quality-focused, high-volume kitchen preferred
