Superba Food + Bread, the all-day restaurant, coffee bar, and urban farm in Venice, seeks an Executive Chef. Currently we are serving our community with an all-day takeout & delivery menu of our greatest hits as well as a uniquely curated selection of grocery items and meal kits. We are seeking the leader of our kitchen to join us during this time, as well as take charge as we prepare to re-open our dining room. We have cultivated our relationship with our community over the years through both comfort and quality and have taken this time to listen to what are neighbors want and need most. Now more than ever we are seeking a chef who is adaptable to the changing environment with a passion to grow, collaborate, and be a part of something special. We are a restaurant committed to chef and product driven food, warm hospitality, small production and California driven wines and unique cutting-edge design. We are community oriented and care deeply about art and style.
The Executive Chef will be responsible for a team of 3 Sous Chefs and a staff of 35 and must therefore be a strong team leader who effectively coaches, trains, and inspires each team member.
What you will be responsible for:
Overseeing day-to-day culinary operations and activities including prep, production, development and execution
Ensuring food is consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes and standards
Monitoring performance of staff and ensure all procedures are completed to restaurant standards
Creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction
A qualified candidate will have:
4-5 years of experience as a Chef de Cuisine or Executive Chef in notable or similar restaurants
Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion
Experience in P&L management, budgetary controls, inventory and labor controls
Ability to write and manage labor schedules to budget specifications
A flexible schedule. Mornings, nights, weekends and holidays are required
